Banners sprawling across the atrium
Greetings for orientation on that saturday
Controlled smiles, restricted movements
Unfamiliar faces, filled with boredom.
Ice breaking session failed indeed
Noone knew why mentor spoke American English
Clinical Lab reeked of alcohol
Student Mentors gazed at us with quizzes and games
Hello. What is your name.
A question so familiar yet appreciated with open arms.
Suhailah. That big giant spoke. And you are?
My name is hazbiba. But people call me haz.
She's Malay you know. Her name is Siti.
That petite lady pointed to a lady tagging from behind.
Oh really? The big giant spoke. Ok. Hello.
This is Huda. She was my friend from Higher Malay Class.
Seated in that huge auditorium.
Red seats and a small nursing manager spoke on stage.
The big hall was filled with nurses to be.
But the noise made was at its minimal.
Noone knew anybody.
Only Nathiya exchanged numbers with Shawn.
Or so did this big giant recalled.
Just call me Nath. People find it difficult to spell my full name.
And so she spoke.
This big giant smiled.
At least people were beginning to make friends.
A slender lady named Claire joined us.
How she became part of us
Was unnoticable by the giant.
Alll that big giant knew
Was the 6 of them compliment as a group
And since that fateful day
16th April 2005
We became the sweets of each others hearts.
And this blog explains it all
Like rainwater touching the ground
Like the sea that never dries clean
Like the flowers that bloom
It didn't matter much how we met
What's most important is how we kept things going
We're friends.
In cloud nine.
We may have different lives
But a part of us remains strong.
Occasional snowy days that comes cold amongst us
Are evidence that our yesterdays,
Are made of a million reasons
For us to remain knitted
As one.
